A new patch for Google Chrome within 8 days: 12 vulnerabilities resolved, including 7 high-risk, with prizes amounting to $ 6000.

Google Chrome updated for the second time in just eight days. The Mountain View giant has indeed released a new patch for the Chrome browser capable of resolving 12 vulnerabilities reported by some researchers. Most of these, more than half, have been identified as a common type of faults in the memory identified by the instrument of detection AddressSanitizer. Seven of the twelve bugs were classified as critical level “high”, the second worst in the scoring system used by Google. Four were reported as “average” and finally as a “low”.

Google has paid about $ 6,000 to three researchers who reported seven vulnerabilities. All other findings were instead directly from the company’s internal security group, or individuals who were still eligible for compensation for different reasons. 1.5 million credit cards are potentially at risk, but no personal information is leaked: it redefines the scope of the attack.

This is not yet a clear signal, but the problem still seems to redefine itself: the cracker attack that threatened to put in danger up to 10 million credit cards in the world would see limited scope of the flight data and remote few days after the accident the question seems almost to be clearly defined.

The attack occurred at the expense of Global Payments, a small American group responsible for the processes of transfer of money between companies and holders of credit cards. VISA and Mastercard have been involved in the problem and, while professing their estrangement vulnerabilities, could not admit that the current risk to its users. Google would be to introduce a novelty for its users: this is an online storage service based on cloud called Google Drive, or GDrive, which should be available the first week of April.

The news is not official yet, but from GigaOM, which would have obtained the information from several sources close to the plans of the company in Mountain View. The online storage space offered by Google, however, would be equal to one GB, a very small amount when one considers the alternatives available on the Web (e.g., Dropbox offers 2 GB free, while Box 5 GB or 50 GB if one adheres to a promoting mobile). It is not however know if the Google content-based products do not heap or 1GB would be reserved exclusively to external data, making this point, the different picture.

Kaspersky Lab, a company specializing in information security, recently announced that it had found some serious irregularities in the catalog of app-extensions for Google Chrome browser. The Chrome Web Store would be different because the malware disguised as extents, with the authors that in some ways even take the game of the Mountain View giant, releasing several variants of their works to circumvent security systems.

The attack against the user appears as a suggestion to download applications designed for Facebook, whose authenticity is by no means guaranteed. The deceit continues through a fake Flash Player installer that downloads the system instead of the more typical Trojan Horse that takes control of the victim’s Facebook account, writes automated messages on the bulletin board and sign up for specific pages at random. Security researcher David Vieira-Kurz of MajorSecurity has discovered a new serious vulnerability involving the Safari Mobile browser on iOS 5.1. The flaw endangers the safety of the devices of Apple iPhone and iPad as potentially makes it possible for attackers to trick the user error by spoofing attempts. The case has already been submitted on March 3 to experts in Cupertino, which in the coming days is expected to provide a specific update.

Going to better explain what is the problem, Vieira-Kurz explains that the bug is caused by an error in handling URLs when using the window.open () in Javascript. Any attacker can therefore use it to lure you into providing sensitive information to a malicious web portal disguised imitation of the original one to which the consumer has tried to connect.
